I was born and raised in Portland. I went to MLC (Metropolitan Learning Center) for eight years then attended Benson Polytechnic High School. Growing up, while taking the 20, or, 12, or 19 bus line to school, I marveled at the city I called home, thinking, "I wonder what Portland will be like when I'm an adult?" Maybe the Willamette river will be clean? Maybe we'll be 100% solar powered? Maybe the Blazers will win another championship? To my disappointment, the only thing that has changed about Portland since I was a child is now we have a bunch of luxury apartments no one can afford, out of touch leadership enacting naive public policy, and a city flirting with bankruptcy.
As your elected leader, I vow to lead with data-driven logic and a loving spirit. My vision – our collective hope for what Portland can be – only deals in specifics, and will never employ empty platitudes offered by other candidates. With me, you get what you expect – accountable, logical, compassion-driven leadership.
